Co-FounderSam Hastings, co-founder of Tutor Recruiter, brings over 18 years of experience in teaching English Literature, Language, and Business Studies across private and public schools. Her leadership roles, such as Head of Year, Head of English and Designated Safeguarding Lead, reflect her deep understanding of both academic and personal student development. Sam’s structured yet approachable teaching style helps students grow in confidence and achieve their goals. In her free time, she enjoys beach walks, spending time with loved one, and diving into a good thriller.

Co-FounderHarry Hastings, co-founder of Tutor Recruiter, has 8 years of tutoring experience in Business Studies and Economics. Known for his engaging and fun approach, Harry builds strong connections with students, creating a supportive learning environment. His logical and empathetic nature ensures he understands both student and parent needs, making learning enjoyable and effective. Outside of tutoring, Harry enjoys travelling, playing football, and exploring new restaurants with friends.

By 2015, Samantha had spent eight years teaching English Literature and Language at an international school. Drawing on her experience in global education, she guided her son, Harry, to earn his Teaching English as a Second Language qualification at 18, enabling him to tutor international students during UK exchange programmes while home from university.

Inspired by his passion for helping students succeed and backed by a BSc in Economics, Harry began offering regular Economics and Business Studies tuition, building a robust network in the industry. Meanwhile, Samantha advanced to roles such as Head of Year, Head of Department, and Designated Safeguarding Lead, showcasing her commitment to education and student growth.

When COVID-19 disrupted education globally, students faced challenges in keeping up with their studies as schools shifted to remote learning. The demand for extra support surged, leading Samantha to take on private students to help them catch up, while requests for Harry’s tuition in Economics and English grew significantly. This highlighted the importance of personalised, one-on-one learning.

As demand for her expertise grew, Samantha recognised the opportunity to make a greater impact through private tutoring. This approach allowed her to provide tailored, one-on-one support, dedicating more time to addressing each student’s unique needs—something often limited in a traditional school setting.

With Samantha and Harry at full capacity yet receiving new requests, parents began asking for tutors for other subjects. Expanding became a natural next step. Drawing on their network of experienced educators, they established Tutor Recruiter—a trusted platform connecting families with skilled tutors who share their commitment to high-quality education.

Tutor Recruiter now collaborates with over 30 UK-based educators, supporting students locally and across Europe, China, Russia, and the Middle East. Our growth, fuelled by word-of-mouth recommendations, is rooted in trust, high standards, and carefully tailored tutor-student matches. Samantha and Harry remain actively involved, ensuring each student receives the personalised support needed to excel academically and personally.

Where we are
Our tutors are based out of the UK, but we have an international presence, supporting students across Europe, and the Middle East, and in China and Russia.
Online tuition is highly effective now with using advanced video conferencing and interactive tools. Nonetheless, we have coverage for in-person in London and the South East of the UK.
